I am a freelance web consultant and project manager based in Dublin, Ireland.

I build dynamic, secure web sites and applications using industry standard tools such as PHP, mySQL, Javascript, XML, XHTML and CSS. I also manage projects and teams using modern practices such as PRINCE2.

I think websites and web applications should be easy to use and functional. I think open standards are the best way forward. I feel strongly about security, and implement best practices in this area wherever possible.

I have been doing this since 1999. I love what I do.

Some Background

Although it was 1995 when I saw my first web page, it would be '97 before I created my first website, and '99 before I worked my way into the Irish web industry, having previously worked as a Network Technician and Database Administrator.

I've been employed by two well known Dublin based companies: Gravitate and Web Reservations Intl.

I worked with Gravitate from 1999 to 2002, and then again from 2004 to March 2007. I held many positions throughout my time with Gravitate: Developer, Lead Developer, Project Manager and finally Production Manager. As Production Manager I managed a team of designers, developers and contractors and was responsible for running all aspects of the production process within the company.

I took a break for a few months in 2002 to go travelling, and upon my return was employed by Web Reservations Intl. as a developer on their award winning hostelworld.com, a website that allows users to make bookings in over 10,000 hostels worldwide.

I offer my clients the benefit of almost ten years of knowledge and experience that I have gained while working in this industry - both technical and managerial.
